Our history goes back more than 60 years in Sweden, where a leading gynecologist asked the engineer Einar Egnell to build a better machine breastfeeding. At that time, the nipple was painful to use and derive good milk. The Egnell made life purpose to help mothers breastfeed.
The Egnell built an electric pump piston which closely mimics the sucking rhythm and intensity of babies breastfed. The pump SMB, the first pump constructed based on survey Egnell, still remains the "gold standard" in the teats of maternity.
The piston technology developed and incorporated into all the electric breast pumps Ameda, giving mothers the ability to mimic the way breastfeeding their babies with a gentle rhythm method, which is not found in competing teats diaphragm. Simplicity, comfort and efficiency in every part of the pump and Ameda confirms our commitment to quality.
